Biography - Spencer Kim
Spencer got his first taste of drumming in high school, when he went out on a limb and bought a friend's drum set. He could hardly hold down a beat at the time. Within weeks of starting, his passion for the instrument took off. A year later, he was intent on playing music professionally. His dream took action in 2003, when he moved from his home in Hawaii to Los Angeles in order to attend Musician's Institute in Hollywood.
At age 19, Spencer completed his time at M.I., and was picked up as the drummer of Future of Forestry (P.K.A. Something Like Silas), who he played with for four years. Three albums and many tours later, he decided to part ways and work as a freelance musician. He then had the privilege of playing with other touring and recording artists such as Leeland, Bethany Dillon, Brenton Brown, and We Shot the Moon.
Spencer's music travels have literally taken him across the world to Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico and throughout the US. He has played on over a dozen recordings, and his drumming has been featured on T.V. programs like 'Grey's Anatomy (ABC), Oprah's 'The Big Give' (ABC), 'If You Really Knew Me' (MTV), as well as the feature film 'Walking On Water'.
It has been seven years now that Spencer has been gratefully living his dream of professional drumming, and he is just as passionate and enjoying himself as much as day one.
