Biography - Nancy Reeves
Nancy began to take piano lessons at age eight because her sister, whose tuition had already been paid, decided to stop taking lessons. This happy accident turned out to be life changing. In middle school, Nancy was a member of the Florida All-State Choir, principal tubist in the Florida Youth Orchestra (2000), and keyboardist in the youth group band at Flamingo Road Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She continued taking piano lessons through high school, and picked up guitar, flute, and voice as additional instruments.
At Point Loma Nazarene University, Nancy participated in the Concert Choir, teaching associations such as MTNA and MTAC, chapel bands, and a travel band while pursuing her degree in music. She was the recipient of the Willo May Beresford Piano Scholarship in 2005. Nancy graduated in the fall of 2006 at the age of twenty with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and studied piano with Dr. Victor Labenske.
After graduating, Nancy went on to teach piano lessons, private and group, and has participated in the Certificate of Merit piano program (with great results from her hardworking students). Nancy began the coursework for a Master's of Arts in Piano Pedagogy at San Diego State University in 2009. She studies piano with Dr. J. Mitzi Kolar and plans on graduating in 2011.
Nancy currently participates in music festivals, recitals, and chamber music in San Diego, and accompanies choirs in the area. She loves introducing the art of music to her students, and loves getting to know them as they progress through their lessons!
