"My 6 year-old daughter started weekly private piano lessons at RMC last January after taking group keyboard lessons at Nightingale Music in La Jolla. By comparison, RMC seems much friendlier and more professional, and the value (considering the individual attention) is better. The facilities in Liberty Station seem state-of-the-art (to this untrained eye) and everyone who works there is extremely personable and accommodating. Most importantly, my daughter has improved her piano playing very quickly and genuinely enjoys her lessons. We would recommend RMC to anyone wanting to start a child (or adult) on the piano; they offer many other instruments as well, but I can't speak to those classes."

"Geared really for older elementary through middle school, but is good for anyone who wants to learn an instrument. David, Leslie, and the entire RMC team are GREAT with kids! This camp is all about the rock band experience - teaching the kids keyboard, drums and the electric guitar. Fun time is taken up either with field games at the local Liberty Station park or playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band video games. The kids love this experience. They also offer music instruction (individual or group lessons) for a really reasonable price. No child is left behind with RMC because of a lack of funds - they'll work to find a scholarship opportunity for your kids if there is a need! Great people - great instruction!"

"We were looking for music lessons in our neighborhood. This wonderful studio is NOT only in liberty station, but absolutely adore the idea that its ran by a couple! Their little one is around the studio, and it brings such a positive family vibe. They gave my daughter a scholarship for camp, and we are are looking forward to start her regular lessons this fall!

"Rec music is really like a family: everyone gets along real well and the classes are a lot of fun. I took a drum class and our instructor, David, was awesome. They keep the place well stocked with drum kits, pianos and guitars, and last time I was there they even had steel drums, which were a lot of fun to jam on.
I recommend the place highly to anyone looking to take their music ability to the next level."

"Whether you've never played an instrument before or if you have many years of musicianship under your belt, Recreational Music Center is a great place to check out! They design music instruction with the student in mind and have a sincere desire to help students succeed.
After a break from piano playing for a few years, I decided to find a piano teacher to help me get my fingers moving again. I have been taking private piano lessons with Leslie for almost a year now and she is amongst the best piano teachers with whom I have worked. She is passionate about music and it shows in her teaching. Leslie encourages me to work at my own pace and we have a lot of fun in our lessons, which I greatly appreciate.

"Only place I know of like it. Why is it unique, because of the group atmosphere and their ability to somehow get these different kids to focus and play together. I like that if they need to they can keep one group on their headsets playing together while another group gets the focused attention they need from the teacher.
Why we love RMC is principally due to David and Leslie - they are fantastic with the kids! Keep doing what you are doing! We love you!"

However, I believe it is the level of importance that Leslie and David put on the development of the student that is most impressive to me.
